Happy National Library Week 2016
I love this photo!
(This is not my library but would love for it to be)
"A library is a house of hope. It's a place where we all, whatever our situation, can feed our ideas and develop our dreams."
Doug Wilhelm
In The Library
This week in the library we will take a trip to the bindery through a Reading Rainbow movie, called Simon's Book. How books are made and created are a huge part of the library. We will be continuing our study on Caldecott books and Caldecott Awards.
We will read the 2016 Caldecott winner and honor books and vote for our favorite 3 books. We will also share many of our favorite Caldecott winner and honor books over the next two weeks.
We shared The Pigeon Stories from Mo Willems and learned to draw the Pigeon.
We discussed the criteria of the Caldecott Award and I asked the students to draw me a picture that tells a story and follows the Caldecott criteria. They have until Thursday, April 14th to turn them in.
I am always amazed at their creativity and design.
What I'm Reading
This week I am reading 2 books a YA book called Passenger by Alexandra Braxton. It is so engaging and wonderfully written. It is part of a series and I am already excited to know that the story isn't going to be over with this first book.
I am also listening to another one of Joann Fluke's wonderful books.
Happy Reading,
Mrs. Shamhart
